Group communication protocol for large group
نویسندگان
چکیده
Group communication protocols which have been discussed so far can be adopted for only a small group due to the processing and communication overhead. In this paper, we discuss how to provide reliable group communication for a large number of entities interconnected by a high-speed one-channel network. A group of entities is partitioned into disjoint subgroups named component clusters interconnected by gateways in order to reduce the processing time and data unit length. The communication protocol is executed in each component cluster and the gateways forward data units to other component cluster. There exists only one gateway between every two di erent component clusters in order to prevent the proliferation of data units.

Machine to machine (M2M) communication, which is also known as machine type communication (MTC), is one of the most fascinating parts of mobile communication technology and also an important practical application of the Internet of Things. The main objective of this type of communication, is handling massive heterogeneous devices with low network overheads and high security guarantees. Hence, v...

متن کاملNewtop: A Fault-Tolerant Group Communication Protocol
A general purpose group communication protocol suite called Newtop is described. It is assumed that processes can simultaneously belong to many groups, group size could be large, and processes could be communicating over the Internet. Asynchronous communication environment is therefore assumed where message transmission times cannot be accurately estimated, and the underlying network may well g...
متن کاملMembership-Insensitive Totally Ordered Multicast: Properties and Performance
Membership-insensitive group transport protocols are particularly desirable for large groups of fast-varying membership where the distributed application being served insists on collective output and survivability rather than producing a consistent record of successive group views. An overview of such a protocol, able to maintain agreed delivery order of multicast messages across the group exce...
متن کاملCausal Broadcast Protocol for Very Large Group Communication Systems
The paper presents a causal protocol for very large group communication systems. The protocol does not make any assumption concerning the group structure nor the network topology. It aims to minimize and control the flow of causal information through two mechanisms. First, it reduces the amount of causal information (CI) timestamped per message by avoiding the transmission of redundant informat...
